Our services

A+ Academic Editing Canberra

provides copy-editing and proofreading services to university students in Canberra. We are keen to assist students for whom English is a second language, as well as native-English speaking students, with all their editing and proofreading needs.

We offer the following services:

  • Thesis copyediting and/or proofreading
  • Essay and assignment copyediting and/or proofreading.

Our services are delivered in a timely manner, with your deadline in mind, and at prices affordable to students. We offer a secure online payment with PayPal or you can pay with online banking.

Our editing service will ensure that your writing meets Australian academic conventions and will comply with the guidelines set out by the Institute of Professional Editors (IPEd).

When we edit your work we will consider the following:

  • Appropriate use of language, such as: grammar; spelling; punctuation and clarity of expression.
  • Consistency of: spelling, capitalisation, hyphenation, abbreviations, expression of numbers and references.
  • Visual consistency in terms of typography, heading hierarchy, page layout, figures, tables and captions.
  • References: check the accuracy of cross-references within the text, between text and figures, and between lists of contents and the body of the document.

Our proofreading service focuses more on surface errors such as misspellings, grammatical errors and punctuation. It is the final stage of the editing process and is done after all other editing revisions. If you are confident in your own ability to edit but are looking for that final polish to your document, then we can offer you proofreading without editing. However, we would advise students for whom English is their second language to invest in both the editing and proofreading service.

Unlike other editing and proofreading services we are happy to meet with you on campus after we have made the corrections to discuss them with you.

In accordance with the ‘Guidelines for editing research theses’, our editorial intervention must be restricted to copyediting and proofreading. We may draw attention to problems relating to substance and structure but we cannot provide you with solutions. This is the role of the academic supervisor. It is important that you the student, remain responsible for the integrity of your thesis, and are fully aware that our editorial suggestions are simply suggestions.

Client confidentiality is of the utmost importance to us and we can guarantee that our clients’ work will never be shared with a third party. To ensure the security of your document, we do not accept submission of assignments and theses through our website.  Documents may be submitted as hard copy in person to us or through our company email address.
